DNS propagation checker

Compare DNS answers across Google, Cloudflare, and Quad9.

DNS propagation checking compares what major public resolvers currently answer for your name. Use it right after a DNS edit to see whether Google, Cloudflare, and Quad9 still disagree.

How this checker works

We query the same record across independent public resolvers and show their answers side by side. Agreement means caches have largely caught up; disagreement usually means an old TTL is still alive somewhere.

How long propagation takes

There is no single global flip. Wait at least the previous TTL, and longer for NS changes at the registrar. Lower TTL a day before a planned migration to make cutovers faster.

  • Old TTL is the usual delay, not “the internet updating”
  • Your laptop may cache longer than public resolvers
  • NS / glue changes need extra patience

After resolvers agree

Confirm the final records with a full DNS lookup, then raise TTL again for stability. For email-critical TXT changes, re-run the SPF/DMARC audit once propagation looks clean.
